Everybody loves the delicious sensation of a good stretch.

But sometimes we take it too far…

Seduced by the blissful sensation of expansion, we push beyond our safe range of motion into the realm of potential injury.

This pose offers such an ecstasy of expansion that yoga practitioners often are compelled to take the stretch too far and injure themselves – only to find themselves dealing with days or even weeks of pain or discomfort in their SI joint or back. (Ugh… SI joint pain is the worst… amirite?)

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SAFELY CULTIVATE A STRONG, FLUID SUPPLE TRIANGLE POSE?

SPOILER: Yes, absolutely, when you know how to do it properly. But first you need to understand the myths of Triangle Pose:

MYTH: Triangle is a spinal twist. Nope. While the cervical spine can rotate in this pose, the rest of the spine doesn’t. Whether you set up this pose from standing position or are coming up from the floor, the movement isn't really a proper spinal rotation.

MYTH: You need to create length of the side body to do Triangle pose well. Actually, the opposite is true. When you are moving well, the length in the side body will naturally appear.
